Green Monster Games, LLC (GMG) was the original name of 38 Studios. Formed in September 2006, GMG made its headquarters in Clock Tower office building in Maynard, MA.

The popular image of the green monster Munch was retained when the company changed names to 38 Studios in March 2007.
