Re: Senior Software Engineer, Web Services
heh I have experience with everything listed here, and then some. Except for the 5 years and the "one large scale web project". Unless of course you count the 65 yahoo corporate blog network I now manage.

Re: Senior Software Engineer, Web Services
I don't think you have any idea how tempting that is.
With split custody with my ex wife, moving is, unfortunately, not an option. It kills me more than you could ever know.
Web development, at a game company. My ultimate dream job. But, when all is said and done, my daughter is worth more than any dream job.
A shame, to be sure.

That's the right choice. Family first.

Re: Senior Software Engineer, Web Services
Laeth...you're status with me just went up +15!!
So many unknowns with taking a new job and having to move! So expensive and then there's the "what if" factor. After the Sigil mess, I have friends who got stranded after moving across country and then got let go a month later with no where to go!
I'm so all for remote! One of my dreams is to be a GM, of all things, with a real support group like the OLD Guide program of EQ! Shoot...I might settle for being an old-time Guide. SO much fun and players actually got help!
(getting any broad hints, guys???)

Re: Senior Software Engineer, Web Services
without the kid, I'd go in a heartbeat. For a job opportunity like that? pfft hell yeah! All of my family is just north of the border (straigh up from syracuse, really).
I'm here in Oregon with my daughter who I get every other week. She is my only tie to this place (well, I mean I have a fantastic job at Yahoo, but ...)
In the meantime, I will continue working on my custom CMS software (hooray for making it all ajaxy) and hope that one day it gets bought out, and managing Bobs messageboard

Re: Senior Software Engineer, Web Services
Now if only I weren't in the process of transitioning from web development to history professor, this would be a great opportunity. ;P
