Responsibilities:
* Work with engineering leads to define processes to create high quality software that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
* Provide input and organize the process for making major technical decisions that drive teams and projects.
* Organize and prioritize work for individuals or teams.
* Conduct interviews, provide feedback, and participate directly in hiring decisions.
* Work with the production team to identify and implement effective software development practices.
* Facilitate communication between the engineering team and other disciplines, as well as between various projects.
* Help define and effectively communicate technical direction to the entire team.
* Manage third-party development, including outsourcing if necessary.
* Meet project deadlines and milestones as set by the studio.
Basic Position Requirements:
* Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of C++. Experience with Python or other scripting languages. Excellent debugging skills and software design skills. Strong knowledge of agile development methodologies and engineering processes. Has a working knowledge of most disciplines (e.g. AI, animation, rendering, UI, networking, etc), and is often an expert in multiple disciplines. Knowledge of other areas of the business. Understands how to effectively manage people and motivate teams.
* Competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Experienced leader with the ability to meet short-term deadlines while maintaining focus on the big picture.
* Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum 6 years game industry experience. At least 3 shipped titles are preferred. Leadership experience with at least medium-sized teams on at least 1 shipped product is preferred.
