Josh and Billy finished 7th and 11th respectively in the 3D character competition, and Minoh placed 12th in the 2D category. 700 game artists submitted character concepts in this battle between eight gaming art communities from around the world. As outlined in the official rules and regulations, the challenge was to create a powerful, magical artifact user to do battle with evil mechanical creatures.
As entrants progressed in their work, they were required to share updates with their fellow artists. This gave each community, or team, the chance to provide valuable feedback and encouragement. Below are links to the final versions submitted by 38 Studios' talented crew, but be sure to check the full threads to see each character's evolution from its initial concept....
Josh Singh - Kong Lao (7th place - 3D)
Billy Ahlswede - Magnuz (11th place - 3D)
Minoh Kim - Aphotic Invoker (12th place - 2D)
I can't emphasize it enough. Its true passion the people in 38 Studios have that makes them a formidable company. I seriously doubt that anyone could give a solid reason in an argument contrary to that. Anyways, the road ahead is long and contains many bumps, but the destination at the end will be epic. I for one cannot wait. Go 38!
