Re: First MMO

Wow, I'm old. My first MMOGs were the original Ultima Online, and Pool of Radiance through America Online's ISP.

I think you mean Neverwinter Nights. That was my first MMORPG as well with UO afterwards.

I think my first computer RPG was The Bard's Tale.

Re: First MMO

My first MMO was Meridian 59. I didn't play long, though. Then I tried out Ultima Online for a little while as well. The longest stint that I spent on a single MMO was EverQuest mainly due to my wife and a few friends that were playing regularly. Since then, I've hopped on and off quite a few different MMOs looking for something entertaining and innovative enough to keep me logging on. Looking back at all of those games, it makes me think that there's nothing quite like technology to make one feel so old.

Re: First MMO

Police Quest and Civilization were the very first PC games I ever saw and played. Before that Nintendo was all I played.

My family didn't own a PC for a long time, mainly cause my father didn't see the use in purchasing one heh. So I only ever got to play at friends houses. Games like Zork, King's Quest and the like. While at home I played on consoles. Finally got a PC in 1995 and Command and Conquer was the only game we had and played for a very long time. We also lived rural so no Internet, again for a long time.

At friends houses I played Might and Magic: World of Xeen and the first "3d" one Mandate of Heaven, which was a brilliant game. Around that time, I guess it was 98 that a friend got the internet and I was able to chat, and played some Muds, but not for long sadly.

My Brother got me into EQ about a year later, in late 1999, early 2000. I played on his account for awhile. I got an account as an early birthday present in early 2000, it was just a few weeks before Kunark came out. But I didn't have Internet at home. I actually played at my grandmothers house as often as I could so nearly every weekend and holidays.

It wasn't until Velious came out that I finally got internet at home. It was a joyous time and probably why Velious is still my favorite expansion. First night we had it I was up till dawn. I remember it clearly, I was level 36 at the time and that weekend I got a FrEnZiEd group and stayed up at it all weekend, Freaked my mom out heh. Memories.

But anyway, EQ was my first official MMO as the others I didn't really get to play with long.
