Todd's influence on a fantasy title

I'm throwing my money behind a unique fantasy genre for 38's MMORG. The interview with Salvatore is behind my hunch on this.

Has anyone ever seen any fantasy artwork done by Todd McFarlane? If so, could you link us? I'd love to see.

Yer kidding, right??

Take a look here. Think Wiki, if nothing else. You can also /google for his art. Think Spidie and Spawn, and you're there.

Re: Todd's influence on a fantasy title

Here's a Link to Todd's Work going back to 1997

not all of it is fantasy and most of them are sculpts of the toys but the art and design had to come from somewhere. I know he did a Spawn Fantasy series as well. I think I still have the Spawn series 1&2 in boxes somewhere (I could never sell them despite having the "pantiless" Angela and the alternate paint Malebogia)

Todd has a good eye for fantasy and a solid imagination. I was just remarking how I'd love to see him do a Drizzt/Gwenhyfar/Artemis series. Though my bf disagrees and says the prospect frightens him.... my bf is a Drizzt fanboi.

Artemis >>> Drizzt

Re: Todd's influence on a fantasy title

I'm aware of Todd's work on things like Spawn and Spiderman. I wasn't aware he'd done any fantasy artwork....some of those sculptures/toys are very impressive! I particularly like the dragons.

Re: Todd's influence on a fantasy title

Bob Salvatore got asked the question over and over and over what his take on Science Fiction (while writing the Star Wars novels). His answer seemed painfully obvious.

It's all fantasy. (paraphrasing)

Honestly though, regardless of what it is, whether it be a black skinned elf, some guy with chains and a strange cape (spawn), or some half-stupid entirely stupid?), horse-like creature that talks really annoyingly (Jar-Jar Binks), what's the difference?

Besides, IMO the "bankability" of Todd is not so much what he's done, but what he's capable of doing. The guy sees the world through a different set of eyes...

That's what I find exciting. We need someone capable of thinking outside of the "box" that has become MMORPGs these days.

IMO.

overall that is what thrills me about this group. They all seem to "see" reality differently. The imagination is not as scary nor depraved a place as we've been led to believe and this group is not afraid to test it's limits

It's almost as if this group is the bumblebee who wasn't told they couldn't fly. They do it because they don't know they *can't*... and I'm not gonna be the one to tell 'em

To be fair, they are also established and *very* intelligent. If they are left to their own devices.... someone cue Lois Armstrong... What a Wonderful World

Re: Todd's influence on a fantasy title

Definately, and I'm going to leave them to it!

Part of the problem that happened with Sigil was that too many made such a fuss over the talent and possibilities that they couldn't ever deliver the goods, in the eyes of certain individuals. (talk about your run-on sentences...) I look forward to the time when they feel ready to discuss it. In the meantime, we'll talk enough that SOMEone will get a brilliant idea and develop a whole new storyboard for another game!

Give us something to look forward to. The proverbial christmas present!
