Re: Lore...integral to an MMO, or extraneous?
Lore is positively an integral part.
Now I like a good bit of lore in a game. A story gives a game more depth and life. I must admit though I often fined myself skipping through lore text. First off in most game the text is to small and made to “look” good but is not very readable. Than there is the quality of the story. Most I have read are ok but few are really great. I also prefer a good cut seen (but chat widow needs to stay usable) and or good voice over work. A good narrative can draw me into the lore better than just text.
Something I have not seen or at least notice is a way to make in game lore text at minimum scalable. Given the team at 38 Studios I am thinking they will have a great story. I would be surprised if the team has not already spent a great deal of time creating lore.
I like it when game lore is very accessible. Give me a “Lore” icon, A way to edit the text font color and size. And through in a little xp for reading it, and I will be happy.
Of course with the team 38 Studios has. I will stick my nose to the screen and squint if I have to. LOL that is one of the things that attracts me to 38 Studios, the potential for an incredible story line.
